About the ASVAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-choice test used by the U.S. military to determine qualification for enlistment. It consists of 10 subtests measuring aptitudes across verbal, math, science/technical, and spatial domains.

The AFQT score (Armed Forces Qualification Test) is calculated from four subtests: Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension. Formula: AFQT = AR + MK + (2 × VE) where VE = WK + PC combined.

The CAT-ASVAB (computerized adaptive test) is taken at MEPS and adapts question difficulty based on performance. It takes approximately 2 hours. No calculators are permitted.
